What should a quote app for tradesmen do?

A good quote app saves you typing up quotes in the evening, and it shouldn't take the pricing out of your hands. For a tradesman or tradesperson, whether a plumber, an electrician or a builder, look for an app that does these things:

• Lets you quote on your phone, on site, while the job is fresh in your head.
• Takes rough notes, typed or spoken, and turns them into a clear description of the work, while you set every price.
• Handles UK VAT, including the domestic reverse charge where it applies.
• Produces a professional PDF with your details, your line items, the VAT and the total, and any payment terms.
• Lets the customer reply without setting up an account.
• Is clear about what is free and what costs money.

How do I get TradeKwote on iPhone and Android?

• On iPhone, get TradeKwote on the App Store.
• On Android, get TradeKwote on Google Play.
• You can also use it in a browser at tradekwote.com, with no download.

The iPhone and Android apps and the web version are the same service, so you can start with whichever suits you.

How do I sign in and start free?

• Open the app, or go to tradekwote.com, and choose Start free. Sign up, or log in if you already have an account.
• You land in Settings. Add your trading name and phone number, which are required, then anything else you want on your quotes: your logo, VAT details, trade registration, how many days your quotes are valid for and your bank details.
• TradeKwote emails you a link to verify your email address.
• Start your first quote.

How does dictating a job on site work?

• Start a new quote and tap Dictate on the job notes.
• Talk the job through for up to 2 minutes at a time. TradeKwote turns what you said into text in your job notes, which you can edit. TradeKwote does not store the recording, and the privacy policy explains how it is processed.
• Add up to 5 job photos if you want. They help TradeKwote write a more specific description of the work. They stay private and do not appear on the quote or the PDF.
• Enter your prices line by line. TradeKwote writes the description and builds the quote. It does not set or change your prices.
• Review it, then send it.

What do I get on every plan, and what is Pro or Team only?

On every plan, including free:

• Voice dictation and up to 5 job photos per quote.
• UK VAT handling and a professional PDF download. Free plan PDFs carry a TradeKwote watermark, and you can add your logo.
• An online quote link that works on every plan with no account needed. Copy it into a text or email, and the customer can accept, decline or request changes. You are notified.
• 3 quotes on the free plan, with no card needed.

On Pro and Team only:

• Unlimited quotes.
• PDFs without the TradeKwote watermark.
• Invoices, created from an accepted quote. You download the invoice as a PDF and send it yourself. TradeKwote does not email invoices for you.
• Automatic follow-ups on unanswered quotes, after 3 and 7 days, as polite emails in your name. The quote needs the customer's email address saved on it. Our guide on how long a quote should be valid for covers chasing before a quote expires.

Pro is £29 a month. Team is £49 a month for up to 5 users and includes everything in Pro. There are no contracts, and you can cancel any time. See the pricing page for the plans.

What does the web version add?

The web version does the same job in a browser, so you can set up a quote at a desk or on a bigger screen and download the PDF to your computer. On a phone, the app can save the PDF and open your phone's share options.

Payment is the main practical difference. On the web you pay by card and manage billing from Settings. If you subscribe in the iPhone or Android app, payment goes through the App Store or Google Play, and you cancel in your store's subscription settings.

What does TradeKwote not do?

It doesn't set your prices or work them out for you. It doesn't calculate CIS deductions. Invoices are Pro and Team only, and you send them yourself.
